MPI - being second is to be the first of the ones who lose.
And nobody can argue with the words of the greatest.

Probably because I thought you’d be less of a dick about receiving an answer.

"Because the sport is about a constructor competition"

Why did you waste effort typing out the rest?

El Scorchio 11:20 Thu Jul 22
Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
Because the sport is about a constructor competition at the same time as a driver competition, so the teams have certain freedom to design the cars differently for optimum lap time. So part of the intrigue is which teams can engineer a great car as well.

There are plenty of other racing series that are much more spec based or fully spec based. (So anyone who wants to see drivers racing identical kit can do) However in those just like in F1, the same few drivers also tend to rise to the top in these series sooner or later as well.

Eerie Descent 9:02 Thu Jul 22
Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
Why don't they make all the cars to exactly the same spec?

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
Ronnie was nearly always in the right car are at the wrong time Zeek, and when the lotus was on top it was Andretti who got the early results so the weight of the team went behind him.

Was a favourite of mine too as well as Villeneuve Senior, both loyal, honorable and drove the wheels off of whatever was put in front of them.

There is a good documentary on Sky about Swedish driver Ronnie Petersen. My favourite growing up (probably the Lotus looked good!) and I was put off F1 when he died. Didn't know his wife committed suicide some years later.

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
Master, stop being a tinker, F1 has a GD equivalent to settle this (As well you know) It's a countback on highest placings based on the number of wins they were still tied at four each but Lewis Scored more 2nd places.

But you knew that.

Correct. I’m glad you agree. Now, if you will all stop referring to it as a sport, we can all get on with our lives.

Rice pisses all over those 3, MPI son.

Henderson is a brilliant leader, but a bang average footballer, IMO of course.

Hamilton finished 2nd in the World Championship, beating Alonso.

Which is exactly what I said.

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
Hamilton and Alonso finished on the same points in 2007 when the were team mates.

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
McTominay would be better than both, MPI.

Pearls before swine Block but you are happy and I like it when you are happy x

Now if I asked who is the better CM Henderson, Rice or Phillips you would say Henderson because he plays for a title and Champions league winning side.

No debate necessary. End of discussion.

'It isn’t a sport. It’s an engineering competition'.

I'm not having that, and I don't even LIKE F1. Give me MotoGP or WSB or even British Superbikes come to think of it but to suggest that F1 is virtually a driverless car sport is a bit silly.

Block 4:35 Thu Jul 22
Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?

Because in that technological era he was in a team on the decline, often putting out the fourth or fifth fastest car on

So just to be clear, it's more about having the fastest car, not really the "best" driver.

Ta son x

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
Alonso is often talked about as one of the greats.

As team mates, Hamilton in his debut season beat him (Alonso was the current world champion) in the drivers championship in their only season together.

El Scorchio 4:29 Thu Jul 22
Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
Every champion back to 2009 has had the WCC winning car underneath them. 2008 was the last time the WDC winning driver didn't have the best car.

Hakkinen and Hamilton are the only two drivers to have done this since 1994.

All Senna, Prost, Vettel, Schumacher's 18 titles combined aside from two were in the best car.

The cars matter in F1. They always have. It's nothing new.

stewie griffin 4:24 Thu Jul 22
Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
Seems I get it perfectly well. A huge amount of slithering that boils down to:
- Hamilton didn’t win between 2008 and 2014 because he was in a shit car
- Vettel won four in a row because he was in the fastest car. He is no longer in the fastest car
- Hamilton left McClaren because their car was shit
- George Russell was winning when he was in the fastest car, and he isn’t close when he’s in his normal car

This is the problem with every conversation where Hamilton’s name comes up. People become ridiculously defensive – can only assume that they realise he’s a cunt – even when the person they’re talking to isn’t even talking about Hamilton, and is talking about F1 as a sport.

It isn’t a sport. It’s an engineering competition. To be fair to Hamilton, he’s clearly better than his team mate. So he’s ‘world champion’ in his two horse race for a few years. Good for him.

Re: Is Lewis Hamilton a Klingon ?
4) And final, you don't get it and thats ok:

Because in that technological era he was in a team on the decline, often putting out the fourth or fifth fastest car on the grid and sharing resource and energy between two World champs in their team. He took a step back to take a significant steps forward in a team that would not only back him but would listen to him and take things in another direction.

All f1 drivers are fast, capable drivers, even the ones driving with Daddies money are otherwise they wouldnt be allowed because people would die.

The greats hone and improve the natural talent, lead and lift the team and show flashes of genius that no one else on the track, on that day could do.

Hamilton is a great. He might be a pretentious wanker at times, but I overlook that because helmet on he is sublime.
